Desktop giants still own deep 5D and markup. Newer cloud tools own room-area speed. We own bill-linked MEP evidence in the browser.
Desk descriptions, not ratings. Keep the giant when the giant is the job.

CostX remains the professional last line when a job needs 5D BIM, workbook-grade formulas, and a Windows estimating desk. That depth is real. It is also why new surveyors hit a steep wall: snap, rate books, file lock. TeraQuant does not replace CostX on mega non-standard BIM. It takes the HK MEP 2D tender pack (PDF + SOR) into a browser so the first pass is review, not trace.
Revu is the PDF markup standard. Toolbars are dense because markup, measure, and studio review are the product. TeraQuant is not a Bluebeam clone. We keep a CAD-like PDF, then bind quantities to Schedule C rows with instance stamps and centreline strokes. If your team lives in Revu for RFIs, keep Revu. Use TeraQuant when the question is "does this bill item exist on this sheet, with evidence."
Glodon owns structure takeoff and list pricing across much of Asia. That monopoly is on reinforced concrete, rebar, and local method statements, not on Hong Kong services tender sheets. TeraQuant does not claim TME's structural engine. We claim P&D, FS, MVAC, and EL&ELV drawings against a multi-sheet SOR, with no silent fallback to the wrong sheet.
Togal is the cleanest Canva-class takeoff for rooms, walls, and openings, including natural-language chat on plans. That is a different job than HK MEP. We do not ship Togal.CHAT. We do not advertise 98% floor-plan accuracy. Our analogue of "talk to the drawing" is item-first: click the bill row, see the stamps. Estimators still review.
Kreo looks like Figma: dark UI, revision compare, live BoQ, realtime seats. TeraQuant is also a dark browser app, but we do not claim Google Docs-style simultaneous takeoff on one sheet. Our collaboration is a shared project workspace with audit. Revision auto-transfer is not a current headline. MEP identity on the Schedule C row is.
Keep CostX or Glodon for 5D and structure. Keep Bluebeam for markup-heavy review. Keep Togal or Kreo if you sell room-area and finishes. Use TeraQuant when the tender is Hong Kong MEP and every figure has to point at a page.
